there's really no explanation for the thing i have created, but i will try anyway

it started when @jtimu purchased this art, which by her account only happened "because @the-sinking-ship left me alone in a shop and there was no one to stop me"

a very normal piece of art, which garnered very normal reactions from @hoko-onchi-writes and @citrusses

i too had very normal reactions to all of this

and lo, an unhinged fic was born, lovingly enabled by @apricitydays-lazynights, @greattemptation, and hoko

TLDR: here's 5k of explicit Drarry featuring sex, pseudosex, surrealism, and some upsettingly good metaphors. i wrote them, and i'm still a little upset.

in all seriousness tho i am begging groveling pleading etc for infantilization to be done away with in this big new year. begging y’all to just be normal about autistic characters. be normal about disabled characters in general. stop reducing us to shy fragile children who need to be coddled in every relationship we have. stop with the eugenicist mental age trope altogether! but above All else just be normal about us as actual human beings. you’re not 5 years old and lacking prior knowledge about different people and that it’s rude to point in public. even a 5 year old lacking prior knowledge has better understanding and empathy. you’re old enough to know better. and if we’re telling you, “hey, that thing you’re doing is actually really bad, please stop!” don’t just double down on it for the love of god. fandoms have come a very long way as viable communities and support systems for people who would otherwise have none, especially queer people, especially POC, and that especially includes disabled people too. try to keep it that way for everyone!!!!! Please!!!!

I actually do have thoughts on PK being an accessibility tool. Like it is, I think it's pointless to argue it's not, but I also wish it were better

PK does help with our dysphoria, since we are trans/nonhuman/age incongruent/etc on top of being individualistic enough that being treated like separate people feels better (we are going through a bit of a dissociation patch right now and trying to get through it).

The problem is PK is a a flawed tool. There are a lot of issues with it using webhooks and the inability to block systems I've said before and still believe is why system communities on Discord can be so toxic and chaotic. No one can avoid anyone. If a chat is moving quickly, the deleting and proxying of messages is extremely disoriented. That's also why some servers opt out of having PK.

For some of our system, it also backfires a bit because being treated like a special account and having "bot" next to our name feels dehumanizing.

Now of course this isn't PK's fault and there is no way around it because of how Discord is, but I do wish that as a community we would push and move for better options. There are actually alternatives to Discord that are open to accessibility options for systems (i.e. Revolt). Likewise forums can have plugins that can make it more accessible and sites like DW have built in features to use different icons, but they're all mostly dead as far as the plural communities on them go.

So like in general I don't think it's helpful to argue about the necessity or accessibility of PK so much as to try to have a conversation about how we can do better.
